Being the most honoured white grape of our country, Furmint brought worldwide fame to Hungary’s Tokaj region and also conquered Somló with his unique character and charm. Rich terroir, careful handling, low yield and oak maturing are the prerequisites for reaching full development of it’s complexity and elegance.
One of the most planted white grapes around Central-Eastern Europe (Graševina, Welchsriesling, Riesling Italico, Laški Rizling) and also prevalent in Hungary, however somehow underestimated for long time. We are happy to see it getting more attention of quality winemakers recently especially around lake Balaton in Hungary. In Somló it is simply fantastic.
We have this species in the biggest quantity among all, 38% of the farm is planted with Hárslevelű (literally translating to ‘Linden Leaf’). It is typically pronounced on the nose and characterised by smooth texture and feminine harmony that is here accompanied by stone and beautiful acidity. We love it.
A lesser-known but lovely face of the famous local grape of Somló that is really worth showing. Botrytis has done some magic in this special year.
